Our team is passionate about delivering the best possible mountain bike/ Onewheel experience in Western North Carolina in Hendersonville, a close 30 minutes from Asheville and Brevard.
Kanuga Bike Park features one-way, downhill specific terrain for all abilities. There is a mix of natural features, jump lines and trails unlike any in the region; which are specifically designed to help you progress as a rider. Onewheelers have the ability to ride a climbing trail with a gentle grade, while taking in the sights and scents of Kanuga’s old growth forest.

Come enjoy all Hendersonville, NC has to offer while racing in one of the most epic Onewheel Enduro races on the planet. Ride Kanuga provides the perfect backdrop to such an epic weekend. This race has something for everyone to enjoy!
The intent of these rules and guidelines are to provide consistency from race to race within Onewheel racing and to support a safe, enjoyable racing experience for all involved.
It is each and every competitor's responsibility to be aware of and to comply with these rules. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
- Rule #1 is to have fun! This is a Onewheel race! Be kind to everyone and enjoy yourself!
- Only registered racers may compete in an event. You must be registered to race. An official race number must be displayed by each racer on their forward riding leg. RF bracelets will be placed on the leading wrist. No competitor shall cut, fold, mutilate, apply stickers to or alter in any way their race number. Numbers are not transferable. If RF bracelets are not returned, racer will be charged $60 and will not receive their time. Registered Racer is solely responsible for their RF wristband and Race number. Penalty for loss of either prior to the event is simple, $60 for RF wristband replacement, plus penalty registration fee of $60 for new race number (if available/possible). If not possible, or too late to register again, racer will be disqualified.
-Competitors below the age of 14 are not eligible to be included in ORL sanctioned rankings. However, their rankings will be considered in the next competition year if they are turning 14 prior to Race for the Rail the following year.
- All competitors must wear wrist guards and a properly secured helmet (complying to DOT or CPSC Standards) at all times during competition as well as when pre-riding or warming up on the courses and any property being used at the event. Helmets worn need to be of equal or higher safety ratings than the ORL helmets provided.
- Competitors must wear proper riding attire, including a shirt, shorts/pants, and fully-enclosed shoes, wrist guards and helmet during competition. We also highly recommend elbow, knee and spinal protection. Pad up! All the gear, all the time!
- If somebody is hurt on course and you are first on the scene, it is YOUR responsibility to call 911 (if the racer is verbally unresponsive), find a race official and let them know! No race is so important that you can't help someone out. Fire Mountain Trails have trail markers located at 1,000 ft intervals on every trail. Be sure to tell dispatchers and/or race officials the closest trail marker to where you are.
- A race may be stopped by the race director in case of severe injury to a rider, emergency situation or life threatening weather. Racers failing to heed the instruction of medical personnel and/or race officials attending to an injured rider will be disqualified.
-In the event of bad weather (rain, hail, lightning, snow, etc) the race director will delay the start of the event or pause the event until conditions improve to compete safely. If conditions don’t improve the event director may cancel the event or schedule a ‘rain date’ in the future. There will be no refunds due to weather related cancellations.
- Do not litter on the course (or anywhere) with water bottles, food wrappers or any other waste.Tread lightly and take out what you bring in. Keep our trails beautiful. Pick up after yourself. Leave No Trace! Litterers will be publicly flogged!
- Earbuds and Personal listening devices are not allowed during the race (while on course). These can interfere with a racer's awareness of other racers and their surroundings on the race course.
-At WheelScorcher, racers will begin the course behind the starting line, board parallel to the start line. Start line organizer will give the competitor a one minute start warning. Competitors will prepare their board and stance at this time. Start line organizer will then give a 5 second countdown to “GO ''. When the start line organizer says “GO”, the rider will then spin the board forward and begin the course. Board stays parallel to the start line until they hear “GO”.
- Each competitor is responsible for having their Onewheel in good operating condition. All Competitors must be self-sufficient. Desired footpads and tire pressure must be administered by the rider. All repairs during a race must be performed by the individual racers. Tools and spare parts used in a repair must be carried by the racer. No off-course assistance is allowed.
-No reruns will be given due to mechanical failures (during trials). ‘Ensuring your board/equipment is in good working condition is the racers responsibility and no restarts will be given for mechanical failures.
- Personal boards are admissible for WheelScorcher Enduro ORL sanctioned race qualifiers.
- Deviation from the marked course will result in disqualification unless the competitor reenters the course at the point of exit. If you cut the course, intentionally or not, own up to it, we'll let you finish in last place (it happens, we understand). If you don't own up to it, and at least 2 people can testify to it, you will be disqualified. A competitor that purposely leaves the marked course during competition is deemed to have retired from the race and will be scored as a DQ or DNF.
--Racers must adhere to their scheduled start time and complete all 3 stages of the enduro within 4 hours from your scheduled start time. If not completed within the allotted 4 hours, you will be issued a time penalty (tbd at time of check in at event)
- A competitor on their Onewheel has the right-of-way over one carrying their Onewheel.
-Lapped racers must yield the track immediately.
-If you are carrying a board, yield to the passing racer who is riding.
-Lapped racers must be aware and yield to lead racers.
-In an interval start time race, if the racer behind you catches up, you must yield to that racer.
-It is the responsibility of an overtaking rider to communicate and pass safely.
-Purposeful physical contact is prohibited and grounds for disqualification.
- Protests of results, the conduct of a racer, or any other matters related to the race may only be filed by a competitor during the event and to a race official. Protests must be reported to or filed with a race/timing official within 10 minutes of the completion of an event, posting of results, or a ruling to be considered valid. All results become final as of the presentation of awards.
- The use of profanity or flagrant discourtesy directed at another competitor, race official, volunteer, staff or spectator is grounds for immediate disqualification.
- No cheating, bad sportsmanship, throwing Onewheels, temper tantrums, unruly behavior, or making a scene. We'll kick you out on principle.
